Jukeboxes

All my life I have been fascinated by jukeboxes, ever since spotting one in 1961 in an amusement arcade at Bexhill on Sea. The record I particularly remember playing was 'Mother In Law' by Ernie K-Doe and I suspect this may have been the model my sixpenny piece dropped into.

So far I have not owned that particular model, but I do own this one.....

This beautiful Ami Continental lived in the corner of my lounge at Tatsfield for many years until I moved to Orpington in February 2007

However to play your collection of 78s you need something like this, which I have owned for over ten years and graced the hallway of my home at Tatsfield. It's a Wurlitzer 1100 and was made in 1948

Over the years I have owned many different jukeboxes. Let's see if there is a photo of my first one bought in 1968

which was a Bal Ami G80

You can tell I was proud of it!

When I moved to my flat in Orpington there was insufficient room for all my jukeboxes

so after deciding not to sell them I decided to give the Ami Continental 2 as a gift to my son,

and the Wurlitzer 1100 is in use in Biggin Hill at my ex-wife's house.
